My Vengeful Savior-.00///The Beginning

.00//The Beginning

Sooyoung bit her lip as she observed her sister in a knight's uniform, who was tying her hair up. Her sister's facial expression was unreadable, her eyes burning into the mirror. There was silence between them; an odd atmosphere took over the room.

"Sooyoung," her sister began, breaking the silence. "You do realize how much I love our region, right?" Sooyoung nodded, still looking at her sister's reflection in the mirror. She shuddered once those cold eyes landed on her. "You do know how much I love war, right?" Sooyoung nodded again, gulping. Her sister walked over to her bed, sitting next to Sooyoung. "You know I risked my gender and went by 'Taeri' to fight as a knight, right?" "Yes." Sooyoung murmured. Her sister smiled and took Sooyoung's hands. They were cold, yet warm.

"Don't ever forget me, Sooyoung," Her sister continued. "This is my first battle, and even though I may not make it-" "Don't say that!" Sooyoung hissed. The thought of her sister dying whilst in battle scared her. Her sister smiled. "I'll always remain in your heart."

"Taeyeon, your parents want to see you before you leave." The servant announced. Taeyeon looked at Sooyoung and said, "I'll make sure to think of you and the family during the battle. I love you. Don't ever give up." She then let go of Sooyoung's hands and exited the room.

Taeyeon...please be alright...
========================================================================
Months and days had passed.

Sooyoung began to get worried. It has been five months since Taeyeon left, yet the knights returned a week ago. There was news traveling around about the knights returning to their families, but Taeyeon never came back.

Sooyoung was in the middle of eating her ramen when the servants started running around from various places. She sighed and went back to eating, almost finished with her bowl. She was about to go to the kitchen, but a servant stopped her.

"I will take that for you, Sooyoung. Your parents want to see you." Sooyoung nodded, giving the servant the bowl. She headed for her parent's room.

She hoped to see Taeyeon again. She wanted to go back to calling her "Shorty" and teasing her. But then, Taeyeon's voice lingered in her mind.

...even though I may not make it, I'll always remain in your heart.

No. Taeyeon was in that room, ready to surprise her. Sooyoung stood at the door, her hand lightly grasping the doorknob. She quickly opened it, and her face fell.

Taeyeon wasn't in the room. Her mother sobbed quietly in her father's arms, who was trying to coax her.

"Come in Sooyoung, sit." Sooyoung obliged, sitting in a chair. She could tell this was bad news. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice wavering. Her mother cried even harder, and Sooyoung began to be anxious. "What's wrong?" she repeated, this time a bit more stern.

"Taeyeon was injured during the battle," her father announced. "It turned out the wound was fatal, and she died."

Sooyoung didn't know how to respond.

"W-What?" she stammered, trying to recollect what she had just heard. "Taeyeon's dead?" Her parents nodded in response.

How could she be so oblivious? She knew something was wrong when the servants were running around. Once again, Taeyeon's last words she said to Sooyoung lingered in her mind.

Don't ever give up...

"Thanks for telling me," Sooyoung hugged her parents before leaving the room. "Even though she may not be with us, she'll still remain in our hearts." Her mother relaxed a bit after hearing that statement.

Once Sooyoung left the room, tears flowed down her cheeks. She ran to her room, slammed the door behind her, and crawled into her bed.

She was suddenly in a deep sleep, dreaming about all the memories she had with her sister. One dream was when Taeyeon wanted to become a knight, another was when Taeyeon also wanted Sooyoung to become a knight as well.

She opened her eyes and jolted, sitting up in her bed. She rubbed her eyes, wondering what time it was. She turned on the lamp to look at the clock on her wall.

It was 2:15 AM.

Before she went back to sleep, Sooyoung thought about her plan to take revenge on the enemies of her region.

She knew it was pretty easy, she had to train as a knight in order to do so.

And she was going to do that, for Taeyeon.
